The boar hair is harvested and then boiled. It is then straightened and further cleaned before attaching it to the bamboo handle. Plastic bristles, regardless of how soft the bristles are, will always (no matter what) scratch the enamel of your teeth. Boar bristles do not scratch the enamel, they simply remove the debris and plaque buildup.
